Fantastic post! Personally, I like their spelling better. Mississippi has far too many syllables for my taste.

Maybe we are setting that state to fail by giving it such a sometimes difficult name to spell out? All the ‘s’ and ‘p’s are confusing to some…
They have no excuse. It’s the only state whose name has so much iambic rhythm they even have a SONG to help them remember how to spell it! No sympathy here…

That spelling may change the time required to count in hide and seek – more seconds may have to be allotted to make up for the lack of syllables!!

I think they skipped Mississippi altogether and counted “One Idaho..two Idaho…three Idaho…”
