Where I sit in the current standings… or something like that

image With less than two hours remaining before voting closes in the third round of the Performance of the Year competition at The Public Blogger, I thought I’d share an update on where I am in the rankings — and thank you for keeping me in the top three against some stiff competition. I suppose it’s too late to add a stanza to my poem that reads:

Judges are wonderful,
judges carry our hopes,
if they score me well,
I promise to loosen their ropes.

The judges’ scoring, which accounts for 30% of our total score, hasn’t been included yet. That means, depending on how they score my poem (and judging by their initial scoring, it won’t be much), I could drop me a little further depending on how many more votes roll in before the 10 a.m. deadline.

Either way, I still feel fairly confident I’ll make it through this round somewhere IN THE TOP 7! I say that with ALL-CAPS and an EXCLAMATION point to sound CONFIDENT! Even though, as I write this, I am in a fetal position under my desk…

Just kidding! Ha!Ha! It’s really more like a cannon ball position because my desk is really small. Continue reading

Anew Duo — “Performance of the Year” nominee (Chicago, Ill.)

image

The first round of voting for this year’s “Performance of the Year” begins TONIGHT at 7 p.m. (Pacific) at The Public Blogger. As I mentioned earlier, it’s sort of like the blogging world’s version of The Oscars, with a little American Idle thrown in. Which is better than throwing in “Bachelor in Paradise” because this would be an entirely different kind of awards show.

Anyway, there are 11 nominees, and one of us will be voted out each week until Dec. 30, beginning with the first round of voting tonight.

Yesterday, I began featuring each of the other nominees so you get a chance to see their work. There are five genres represented — artists, writers, photographers and singers. Oh, and one humorist. Probably because more than one could lead to disaster.

Please take the opportunity to vote tonight, even if it’s not for me. Details are at the bottom of this post… along with a printable $1 off coupon for Burger King’s new “Black Bunned Whopper,” which is naturally larger than the white-bunned Whopper. No need to thank me or let this influence your vote in any way.

In the meantime, meet Christian hip-hop recording artists Anew DuoContinue reading

The first round of voting for this year’s “Performance of the Year” begins TONIGHT at 7 p.m. (Pacific) at The Public Blogger. As I mentioned earlier, it’s sort of like the blogging world’s version of The Oscars, with a little American Idle thrown in. Which is good, because if it was The Rap Awards my hip-hop name “2-White-2-Rap” would get me thrown out.

(There must be some kind of quota.)

Please take the opportunity to vote tonight, even if it’s not for me. Details are at the bottom of this post… as well as an elementary school photo of me with braces, buck teeth and rainbow suspenders that were often used for tying me up in the boys bathroom. But please — don’t let the torment of my youth influence your decision when you vote.

In the meantime, meet singer, songwriter and recording artist STEISContinue reading
